Microtunneling

No personnel are required inside the tunnel.

Intermediate jacking stations allow lying long stretches of pipelines.

The MTBM has a continuous monitoring laser-guided system, which detects and corrects any online trajectory errors (by adjusting the thrusting force of the hydraulic jacks and of the directional drilling units located in the casing pusher).

Ground deformations are minimized or eliminated (which is made possible by the special drilling method used and the combined direct installation of the pipeline). By means of hydroshield, the ground deformation is avoided with slurry pressure in front of the shield.

Depending on the site-specific geological conditions, auger (e.g. EPB machine, open shield with punctual cutter or auger, for DN < 800 mm) or hydraulic spoil removal (slurry system) can be used.

– depending on the results of the hydrogeological investigations:

– above groundwater;

– below groundwater.

– depending on the results of the geological and geotechnical investigations:

– in cohesive and non-cohesive soils;

– in soft and solid rocks;

– challenging in the presence of sand and gravel.

TECHNICAL DATA

– bore diameter dmin – dmax = 50-1200 mm

– up to 1000 m, without an exact upper limit depending on pipe (diameter and material).

Pipe Jacking

THIS TRENCHLESS TECHNIQUE IS USED TO INSTALL OPEN PIPELINES (STEEL, CONCRETE, GRES, PRFV, POLYCRETE) RANGING BETWEEN 100 mm AND 3000 mm IN DIAMETER. HYDRAULIC JACKS LOCATED AT THE TUNNEL ENTRY ARE USED TO PUSH IN SEQUENCED PIPE ELEMENTS TO FORM THE LINE.

Impact Ramming

THIS TECHNIQUE ENABLES INSTALLATION OF OPEN STEEL PIPES WITH THE USE OF SPECIAL PNEUMATIC RAMMING MACHINES WHICH APPLY IMPULSIVE STRESS.

When propulsion begins, the pneumatic ram is sited at the back end of the excavation and is self-supported by stretchers that connect it to the pipe.

No hydraulic jacks or any structure providing a reaction to them are required.

During drilling spoil accumulates in the pipe, from which it is removed at the end of the installation by water flush, compressed air or auger.
